EXPLORER: From Peaks to Pavement

Fresh as a sunrise facing the mountains, the EXPLORER II made its first appearance last year in a boot version, and it completes its range for winter 2025/2026.

The philosophy behind this model is simple: to break down the barriers between « outdoor » and « city » by offering the perfect hybrid between these two worlds.
Malfroid offers a shoe with character, sleek and built to endure, yet versatile and elegant: it will accompany you from Chamonix to Paris, first class or on foot.

Yes, it shares family traits with the DEFENDER, an icon of the Malfroid range, but the EXPLORER goes further, incorporating more visual and technical elements from mountain footwear. Its new commando sole is lighter to be worn from Monday to Sunday; it needs to be equally comfortable for a day’s hike off the beaten path and for going to a restaurant in the evening. A monster of versatility, but always with a unique style.

Here in its black waxed version, which isn’t afraid of the rain as it’s water-repellent.
With this EXPLORER, Malfroid asserts its taste and inspirations from the alpine world and its history.

– Insert raw wood shoe trees into your shoes as soon as you take them off: They absorb moisture and preserve the integrity and shape of the shoe.

– Use a shoehorn for your comfort and to protect the shoe's heel counter.

– Alternate your pairs of shoes as much as possible, as leather needs to dry properly to remain supple and keep its shape. Never leave your pair near a source of heat or moisture.

– This type of robust leather requires little maintenance. 1 to 2 times per season, clean the leather with a slightly damp sponge, let it dry, then use a small amount of Saphir "oily leather special" cream or a vegetable-based leather grease, applying it with a cloth or by hand, massaging it in evenly. Let air dry.
