A true Chelsea boot is all about proportions, materials and construction.

In other words, the vamp must draw a nice regular curve, ending on an neither too round nor too thin toe, with an elastic stitched on pieces of leather of the right thickness, assembled to form a robust construction (goodyear sewn with a thin rubber sole) and create a well-balanced boot which, from the back, rises in a water drop shape right up to the ankle.

It is always more difficult to achieve something simple; what could be simpler, apparently, than preparing a dry martini: gin, vermouth and an olive. However a dry poorly dosed or which would have bathed for too long in the ice of a shaker and the whole thing is suddenly… terrible. Not to mention a tasteless olive…

And so, Malfroid has gone to the sources of this mythical model to capture its essence.

And it all began with a gift: one from a shoemaker at the English royal court who had been tasked with modernizing equestrian attire by giving it a fresh new look. Elastic and rubber were the keys to this modernity.

The officers in the Chelsea district of London subsequently gave it its iconic name. Indeed, during gala dinners they completed their ceremonial uniform with these famous black boots in smooth leather.

Chelsea Boots have gradually become a democratic unisex standard in England. During the Swinging Sixties, ambassadors like John Lennon and Paul Mccartney popularized the model, easy to put on, symbol of a revolution in style and living. Likewise Bob Dylan, whose slender and curly haired silhouette is forever inseparable from these boots.

A shoe for every occasion : cool, calm, collected, it opens onto a vast imaginary (sartorial, musical …)!

Fit standard - Take your usal size

– Insert raw wood shoe trees into your shoes as soon as you take them off: they absorb moisture and preserve the integrity and shape of the shoe.

– Use a shoehorn for your comfort and to protect the shoe's heel counter.

– Rotate your pairs of shoes as much as possible, as leather needs to dry properly to remain supple and maintain its shape. Never leave your pair near a source of heat or moisture.

– Regularly wipe your pair with a dry cloth or give them a quick brush.

– Use Saphir Médaille d’Or lotion every five to ten wears. It cleans and nourishes the leather: this is essential, regular maintenance. Saphir Médaille d’Or Pommadier cream (neutral or in the shoe's color) is a complementary, more nourishing treatment.

– Once your shoes are clean and hydrated, apply a little Saphir Médaille d’Or shoe polish to provide extra protection and a glossy finish. Finally, buff using a chamois cloth or a soft-bristled brush.

– For a mirror shine (high-shine polish), emulsify by alternating layers of polish and fine droplets of water, on the rigid parts of the shoe only. This process requires time and precision. Run a nylon, wool, or cashmere stocking over a finished mirror shine.
