A true Chelsea boot is all about proportions, materials and construction.
In other words, the vamp must draw a nice regular curve, ending on an neither too round nor too thin toe, with an elastic stitched on pieces of leather of the right thickness, assembled to form a robust construction (goodyear sewn with a thin rubber sole) and create a well-balanced boot which, from the back, rises in a water drop shape right up to the ankle.
It is always more difficult to achieve something simple; what could be simpler, apparently, than preparing a dry martini: gin, vermouth and an olive. However a dry poorly dosed or which would have bathed for too long in the ice of a shaker and the whole thing is suddenly… terrible. Not to mention a tasteless olive…
And so, Malfroid has gone to the sources of this mythical model to capture its essence.
And it all starts with a gift: that of a shoemaker from the Royal Court of England who was given the mission to modernize the equestrian silhouette. Boost it with new boots.
The officers in the Chelsea district of London subsequently gave it its iconic name. Indeed, during gala dinners they completed their ceremonial uniform with these famous black boots in smooth leather.
Chelsea Boots have gradually become a democratic unisex standard in England. During the Swinging Sixties, ambassadors like John Lennon and Paul Mccartney popularized the model, easy to put on, symbol of a revolution in style and living. Likewise Bob Dylan, whose slender and curly haired silhouette is forever inseparable from these boots.
A shoe for every occasion : cool, calm, collected, it opens onto a vast imaginary (sartorial, musical …)!
Our Berrière is presented here in chocolate leather that comes from the Dupuy tanneries, a historic (and prestigious) house in Puy en Velay.
