A singular beauty sometimes emanates from ordinary everyday objects.
The Saphir Médaille d’Or shoe lace is one of them.
Out of its case, its fine, extremely dense mesh strikes the eye. Then this pleasant sensation of “flexible stiffness”.
The French poet Francis Ponge would certainly speak about it better than we do, since it is an object-poem. Perhaps he would compare it to the fragile tail of a small mammal because of it’s finely ridged leather texture, shining on its surface by the waxing and glaze that it receives when La Société Choletaise de Fabrication (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) braids it on wooden looms from the 1830-1900 era (yes indeed).
The “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label is “a mark of recognition by the French State, set up to distinguish French companies with excellent artisanal and industrial know-how”.
So here is a 100% cotton shoe lace, fine, round, resulting from an unchanged tradition and know-how. A lace that gives us a little history lesson, just like that.
Because it’s the most beautiful in the world, Malfroid chooses it.
Slip it through the eyelets of your shoes for every detail counts.
